Case conferencing
Case conferencing, by the book
The book being the Medicare Benefits Schedule. Five pages, each answering one question clinicians ask before they book a conference, and each citing the clause it came from.
The short version
What a case conference is
A multidisciplinary meeting about one patient, where a GP or specialist sits down with clinicians from other disciplines — specialists, allied and mental health — to agree on that patient’s needs, goals and a path to better care.
Medicare rebates the convening clinician’s time, and rebates each participating clinician separately for theirs. The clinician convenes the conference and claims the item; the schedule sets out who may take part, for how long and how often, and those rules are what the rest of these pages are for.
